The Federation organises and runs
several competitions each year.
It is
extremely important that the committee make it VERY CLEAR that it is the
responsibility of exhibitors
to arrange their own insurance cover, before putting exhibits into competitions.

Rules for the President’s Trophy (Inter
Society Competition) presented by John Crowther
This
competition has been introduced to enable each member to reach a half way stage
in an entry for the Inter Federation Competitions, which are held every two
years. These competitions are run by the
ABPS, of which the North Western Federation is a
member.
The object
is to enable three individual and separate members from any Society / Club to
select a discipline from a given list (see below) and make up an entry of 16
sheets, which is one frame.
No one
person may enter more than one sixteen-sheet entry per competition. That entry may not be re-entered for a period
of three years in this competition. It
may however be entered in any of the disciplines in the individual competitions
in the following year. At the time of
writing, the list of disciplines will vary for each of the bi-annual
competitions, which are held in the Provinces.
However, the North Western Federation will accept any of the eight
disciplines.
Should an
entrant belong to more than one Society / Club then entries can be submitted
from each Society. Each entry will have
an introductory page, and on the reverse of the title page the name of the
competitor will be listed along with the name of the Society. The entries, although submitted by
individuals, will become, for the purpose of this competition, the entry of
that Club / Society.
This years disciplines are to be
selected from the following: Traditional Philately, Postal History, Aero
philately, Postal Stationery, Social Philately, Revenue, Cinderella and Thematic.
The marking
scheme for entries will be as follows:
Philatelic
knowledge and personal study 35
Treatment,
originality and importance 30
Relative
condition and rarity 20
Presentation,
write up and arrangement 15
Total 100
Thematic
entries will be marked in accordance with the relevant marking scheme for that
discipline.
Medals will
not be awarded for this particular competition.
Each participating exhibitor will receive a certificate.
These rules
are provisional and will be altered as required.
